Life Is A Crazy Gift

Written By: Robert Batch

Exhausted?  Yes.  Busy?  Yes.  Anxious at times?  Yes.  Regret any of it?  No.

For those of you who have not yet figured it out yet there is a new life in the family - Cecilia Adele, born on January 11th 2018 at 4:20 AM.  Ever since that date my life, my priorities, and the way I see things has changed tremendously.   Here are a few reasons why.

Father DaughterBeing A Father: As young boys you always imagine what kind of father you will be like.  Hoping that you will be exactly like your dad.  Until reality hits and all of the sudden things happen very differently than you expected and or planned.  The past month and a half has been that, unplanned and unexpected all of it being a tremendous gift.  Being a father has not only forced me to value the present moment, but also dig deeper in what it means to be a man.  (Let me clarify)  To be a man of God and pursue holiness and truth in all my actions.  I will admit, I have made alot of mistakes already (mainly during diaper changes)  That is the beauty of it all.  Especially with my wife on my side through out the journey.

HusbandBeing A Husband: Being a father is one thing, but being a Husband and Father is different and beautiful.  A priest once told me that "Marriage is a place where good people go to die".  Yes literally, but also spiritually.  Having the willingness and ability to deny yourself completely for the sake of the other.  I have learned alot, and I know I still have alot to learn as I discover the tremendous amount of blessing and the tremendous gift that I have been given in the Sacrament of Marriage.  Yes it times it can be messy but through all of the mess there is a beauty and truth that is waiting for you.

Being Christlike: "Deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow me".  It is so true of Christianity, and yet it is so true within the life of the family.  To deny oneself and to follow Christ in the life of the family.  To race eachother to the Cross, the source of our hope, the source of our joy.  Through the tears, late nights, and fights.

Life is a beutiful gift to be lived to the fullest.  Cecilia Adele has defintely taught us this well.  Pray for us as we continue to pray for you.
